Dr. Sam Crosby - Sommerville,Rutgers & NJWOA
Sam Crosby wrestled at Somerville H.S. where he won 4 District titles and placed 4 times in the State Tournament, winning in his senior year. In 1954 he was also named 1st team All-State in football at Quarterback. At Rutgers Sam competed in both sports winning an EIWA Championship in Wrestling. Sam came back to the sport of wrestling after graduation as an official and was a member of the NJWOA for over 40 years. He has served as the Chief Official at the State Tournament and NJ rules interpreter for over 25 years. Sam has also served for 8 years on the National Federation Wrestling Rules Committee and is a Past President of the NJWOA. He was a Charter Member of the Somerville Hall of Fame and after earning his Doctorate Degree he served as Middle and High School Principal as well as Assistant Superintendent of the Bridgewater-Raritan School System.
Sam Coursen - Collingswood
Sam wrestled for Forty Fort High School in Pennsylvania wher he won four PIAA District titles and appeared in the PIAA State finals all four years. As a Coach at Collingswood High School his teams compiled a record of 126-47-7 with four undefeated seasons, eight conference titles and six NJSIAA District titles. A South Jersey pioneer Sam was the co-founder of the Region 7&8 Coaches Association, former Chairman of the South Jersey Hall of Fame and served over a decade on the State Executive Committee for the NJSIAA.
