Gene Barber

A 1969 graduate of Paulsboro High School, Gene was a District Champion and placed 3rd in the Regions before achieving All-American Status at Camden County College in 1971. More All-American honors would follow at Trenton State College where twice he would place 3rd in the division 3 Nationals and became a Division One All-American when he placed second as a Senior. After graduation at Trenton State Gene would take on the Head Coaching position at Absegami High School over the next 33 years his teams would notch a record of 507-137-4 while winning four NJSIAA Group 4 Championships and was ranked #1 in New Jersey for 2002-04 as well as #4 in the USA. His teams went 89-0-1 from 2001-04 while crowning eight Individual State Champions,46 Region and 129 District Champions and 18 Cape Atlantic League Titles.For these accomplishments Gene was selected Region 8 Coach of the Year on five occasions, State Coach of the Year once and USA Wrestling Man of the Year in 2004. Gene is a member of the South Jersey Wrestling, Paulsboro HS, Camden County College, Trenton State, National Jr. College and Gloucester County Halls of Fame for his dedication and life in Wrestling.

Greg DeMarco

After placing second in the New York States in 1964 Greg wrestled for Hall of Fame Coach Dick Voliva at Rutgers. After graduating from Rutgers Greg made New Jersey his new home as he took on the wrestling program at Madison Central High School where he coached for eight years before becoming Hall of Famer John Sacchi's Assistant at Middlesex CC for three years then on to East Brunswick for the next seven years. During his 15 years as a head coach, Greg compiled a record of 147-63-4 with seven District team titles, five Middlesex County and a Central Jersey Group 4 championship. Greg while at Madison Central started the very successful Old Bridge Summer Festival a two week long summer wrestling tournament using his creation of the Madison System of weight classes. This as well as The Top of the East Tournament, East Brunswick Wrestling Club,and the Mat Rats Club were all creations of Greg DeMarco. He did this all while being the State Editor for USA Wrestling, President of Region 6,and Director of the Top of the East and Middlesex County Tournament. A tireless worker Greg received the Harry E.Lake Award from the NJWCA and is a member of Region 5 Hall of Fame as well as being named the NJ Governor's Outstanding Teacher in 1989.
