Vince Fitz - Delaware Valley
Vince Fitz wrestled for two Hall of Fame coaches in Russ Reigel at Hunterdon Central and Bill Kohl at Penn State. At Hunterdon Central he posted a career record of 61-7-3 including a 22-0 mark his senior year when he won the NJ State Championships at 136 lbs. in 1964.At Penn State he earned 3 Varsity letters and had a record of 38-11-1. In 1967 he received the Charles Speidel Award for most team points. He also was a 3 time placewinner at the Eastern Intercollegiate Championships with 2 thirds and a second. After three years as an Assistant Coach at Columbia University he took over the reins at Delaware Valley H.S.and turned this small Group 2 school into a State power. From 1971-1990 his team's record was 284-60-3. Ten teams were ranked in the Top Ten in NJ winning 7 Group 2 Sectional Titles and 6 Group 2 State Championships add to this five conference titles and a #1 team in New Jersey in the 1984 Star Ledger. Vince also coach 3 wrestlers to 4 State Championships which included Two wrestlers,Jamie Wicks & Jeff Seagreaves who were named Outstanding Wrestler. When Penn State NCAA Champion John Fritz was asked what was the moving force to make him want to become a wrestling coach he answered 'Vince Fitz'
Cliff Loysen - Edison & JP Stevens
Cliff's first exposure to wrestling was at Rutger's University but not as a wrestler but observing Dick Voliva's practices. After college Cliff started the wrestling program at Edison High School and later at JP Stevens when the school's split. His teams recorded a 120-34-1 record capturing eight consecutive District and five straight Middlesex County Championships between 1964-71. On two consecutive times he placed every wrestler on his team into the District finals;his wrestlers placed in the State Tournaments thirteen times including 5 State Champions,two Outstanding wrestlers,and three third place medalists.His State Champions include Steve Povalac and the Nisivoccia Brothers,Gerry & Joe, who went on to legendary coaching careers in NJ. An outstanding Official,Cliff served as Central chapter President and Cadet Supervisor for the NJWOA. He is a member of the Region 5 Hall of Fame and the reciepient of the NJWOA Award of Honor for Lifetime Service.
